Mesquite police said a 16-year-old was killed and a 15-year-old was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
MESQUITE, Texas — A teenager was killed and another was hospitalized in a shooting at a home in Mesquite, police said.
The Mesquite Police Department (MPD) said officers responded to a shooting call at approximately 9:30 p.m. Thursday, July 24 in the 2100 block of Pecan Creek Drive. When officers got to the scene, they found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Then, officers found another teenage boy, identified by the medical examiner as 16-year-old Brandon Lil Wayne McGhee, and he was declared dead at the scene.
Investigators identified a third 15-year-old boy as the suspect in the fatal shooting and arrested him at approximately 10:50 a.m. Saturday, July 26, the department said.
Mesquite police said the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact their department.
