The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to launch in just over two months, and it’s shaping up to be the most advanced model in the Ultra lineup yet. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, one of its standout features will be satellite connectivity, allowing users to send text messages even without cellular or Wi-Fi networks. This feature will reportedly work independently of an iPhone, pushing the Ultra 3 closer to being a fully standalone device.

In addition to satellite capabilities, the Ultra 3 is also expected to bring smartwatch-specific 5G support. While the current models already offer LTE, the move to 5G could improve speed, reliability, and battery efficiency in low-signal areas — a valuable upgrade for adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts who rely on dependable connectivity.

On the hardware front, Apple is likely to introduce performance enhancements across the board. This includes a new S10 chip (or an improved version), faster charging, and a wide-angle OLED display with greater brightness and smoother refresh rates. These upgrades have already appeared in the Apple Watch Series 10 and are expected to carry over to the Ultra variant. However, the much-anticipated blood pressure monitoring system may not make the cut this year due to reported technical setbacks.

The Apple Watch Ultra 2, released last year, offered a sleek black titanium finish but lacked significant hardware innovations. With the Ultra 3, Apple appears to be focusing on substantial upgrades that will better justify its “pro” branding — especially for users who explore remote regions or rely heavily on rugged, high-performance gear.
As per tradition, Apple is likely to unveil the Ultra 3 alongside its next iPhone lineup during a September event. If the rumored features come to fruition, the Ultra 3 could be a game-changer in the premium smartwatch segment, offering more independence, power, and functionality than ever before.
