LGUs suspend classes on July 7 due to inclement weather

MANILA, Philippines — Several local government units (LGUs) have suspended classes on Monday (July 7) due to the inclement weather brought by the southwest monsoon and Typhoon Bising (international name: Danas).

Classes are suspended in the following areas:

  • Entire province of Ilocos Sur – all levels, public and private schools;
    work in public offices
  • Lingayen, Pangasinan – all levels, public and private schools
  • Masantol, Pampanga – all levels, public and private schools
  • Bauang, La Union – all levels, public and private schools

In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) hoisted Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 in Batanes as Bising accelerates northeastward towards Taiwan on Sunday afternoon.

Pagasa said that the center of Bising was located 335 kilometers west northwest of Itbayat in Batanes outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

The state weather bureau also said that Bising may enter the northwestern boundary of PAR on Sunday night and will exit the northern boundary of PAR by Monday morning.

It added that Bising and southwest monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas:
