‘Our hearts are with everyone impacted’: North Texas restaurants donating profits to food relief

Deadly flooding in Central Texas over the July 4 weekend left more than 100 dead. Now, some North Texas restaurants are donating their profits to relief efforts.

DALLAS — Some North Texas restaurants are planning to donate their profits on certain days this week to relief efforts after devastating Texas Hill Country floods over the July Fourth weekend left more than 100 dead

La Bistro Italian Grill, a longtime Italian restaurant at 722 Grapevine Highway in Hurst, announced it’s donating 100% of all its sales from dine-in customers from 5-9 p.m. July 7-10  to flood relief efforts.

“Many of you know our own two children — a three-year-old & a four-year-old who run through La Bistro like they own the place, taking pretend orders and charming longtime customers who’ve watched them grow up visiting their dad and “Pop Pop” at work. As I read about those missing children, I thought about our little ones and the parents who are now living every parent’s worst nightmare–and it brought tears to my eyes,” a letter from the restaurant’s owners, the Benouared family, said, as first reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I may not have the power to change what happened, but I do have the power to feed people. That’s what our family has done at La Bistro for the past 41 years– so that’s exactly what we’re going to keep doing, with purpose.”

“On July 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th, 100% of every single dollar spent at La Bistro–food, drinks, EVERYTHING–will go directly to help the families affected by the flooding in South Texas,” the letter added.
