Scarlett Johansson achieved a new record after she became the highest-grossing lead actor of all time in Hollywood following the release of “Jurassic World Rebirth.”
Johansson ranked number one as the global box office’s highest-grossing actor, as reported by USA Today, citing the outlet The Numbers.
According to The Numbers, Johansson’s films have amassed a staggering $14.8 billion in total global earnings based on her lead roles in 18 films.
The outlet reported that the 40-year-old actress has now surpassed the box office records of her fellow Marvel stars Samuel L. Jackson, who ranks second, and Robert Downey Jr., who sits in third place.
“Avengers: Endgame” ($2.7 billion), “Avengers: Infinity War” ($2 billion), “The Avengers” ($1.5 billion), “Avengers: Age of Ultron” ($1.4 billion), “Captain America: Civil War” ($1.1 billion), “The Jungle Book” ($951 million), “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” ($714 million), “Sing” ($631 million), and “Iron Man 2” ($621 million) are cited as the biggest contributors to her record.
The release of her latest film, “Jurassic World Rebirth,” has catapulted Johansson up the ranking. The actress is expected to be the first person to cross the $15 billion mark if the movie continues to perform well.
Johansson shared in a recent interview that she has been on the lookout for a new installment of the franchise in which she can participate.
“I’ve been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years. I’m like, ‘I’ll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I’ll do the craft service!’ I’ll do anything for it,” she said.
Johansson plays Zora Bennett in “Jurassic World Rebirth,” who is on a mission to extract DNA believed to be key capable of saving human lives. Alongside Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali) and Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey), she attempts to survive as dinosaurs hunt them down.
Johansson rose to stardom in 2003 after she played the lead opposite Bill Murray in Sofia Coppola’s “Lost in Translation.” She then appeared in the films “Marriage Story,” “Jojo Rabbit,” “Under the Skin,” “Lucy,” and “Black Widow,” among others.
