The Fort Worth resident said his family is mourning a loss from the floods.
DALLAS — The devastating floods in the Texas Hill Country have seemingly touched all corners of the state, as families are mourning the loss of loved ones and friends. Now we’re learning about another connection to the tragedy.
Texas country singer Pat Green, who lives in Fort Worth, announced Monday that his family “suffered a heartbreaking and deeply personal loss” in the floods.
“We are grieving alongside countless Texans whose lives have been upended by this tragedy,” Green said in a post on social media. “Right now, we kindly ask for privacy and space as we mourn, support each other and begin to process what comes next for our family,” Green said. “Thank you for your love, prayers, and compassion.”
Green’s wife, Kori Green, said in an Instagram post that Green’s brother, his brother’s wife and two of their children “were swept away in the Kerrville flood.”
“We are heartbroken and anxiously waiting for all of them to be found,” Kori Green posted.
More information has not yet been confirmed by officials.
Green was scheduled to play a concert in nearby Luckenbach on Saturday night, but the show was rescheduled to a later date, Green announced.
The death toll from the flooding rose to 104 people by Tuesday morning, and others remain missing.
At least 27 campers and counselors from Camp Mystic died in the flooding, and officials have said 10 girls and a counselor from the camp remain missing.
Survivors have described the floods as a “pitch black wall of death” and said they received no emergency warnings.
Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly, who lives along the Guadalupe River, said Saturday that “ nobody saw this coming.” Various officials have referred to it as a “100-year-flood,” meaning that the water levels were highly unlikely based on the historical record.
