Asian street food spot by celebrity chef abruptly closes location near SMU

The restaurant abruptly closed this weekend.

DALLAS — An Asian street food restaurant by celebrity chef Uno Immanivong has closed its location near SMU after six years.

Immanivong announced this weekend that the Red Stix Asian Street Food location at 6501 Hillcrest Avenue near SMU in the Park Cities closed effective July 12. Another Red Stix Street Food location at 13050 Bee Street in Farmers Branch remains open.

“It’s hard to say goodbye, but every end opens a new chapter! After 6 incredible years filled with friendships, laughter, and unforgettable meals, we’re sad to announce that our Red Stix SMU location will close its doors for the last time this weekend, July 12th,” a post on social media read. “Thank you for being part of our journey and supporting us through thick and thin. Your love means the world!”

The post said a Chef Uno’s catering and test kitchen is coming soon, though.

“We can’t wait to serve you again!” the post continued.

Chef Uno Immanivong became known on the national stage after she auditioned in 2012 for “The Taste,” a reality cooking show, in which Anthony Bourdain chose her to mentor his team, according to her website

That same year, she opened her first restaurant, Chino Chinatown in Trinity Groves, followed by Red Stix Street Food and Chef Uno Catering.
