6-year-old boy dies, 3 injured in UTV rollover in North Texas

Police said a UTV had rolled over four boys, ranging in age from six to 13, after the driver lost control while they were riding in a parking lot.

GAINESVILLE, Texas — A six-year-old boy died and three other children were injured in a utility task vehicle (UTV) rollover crash on Sunday evening, according to Gainesville police.

Around 5 p.m., officers responded to the 3100 block of East US 82 after a report of a major accident involving a 4×4 rollover.

Police said a UTV had rolled over four boys — ranging in age from six to 13 —  who were all ejected from the vehicle after the driver lost control while they were riding in a parking lot.

All four children were transported to hospitals. One child was airlifted to a hospital in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. CPR was performed on the six-year-old, but he later died from his injuries.

Gainesville PD said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
