“I proved to myself that working with a good attitude and motivation, even with my imagination, allowed me to achieve an effect and make a reality what I created in my mind.”, Kapo tells Billboard.

And created on his mind he did, as Kapo, born Juan David Loaiza, manifested being No. 1 on the Billboard charts. Por Si Alguien Nos Escucha debuts at No. 1 on the Top Latin Pop Albums chart with 5,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States during the July 4-10 tracking week, according to Luminate. Streaming activity contributes most of the set’s starting sum, which equates to 7.34 million official on-demand streams for the songs on the album.

“Literally, everything I thought the collaborations would be, I imagined, and then that power and that desire, to want and to do something even if you think it was crazy, was celebrated,” muses the singer, who was born in El Cabuyal — a small village in Valle Del Cauca, Colombia. “Every time something happened, we celebrated it, and we continue to celebrate it in a humorous way. I also declared at one point that I was No. 1 on the Billboard charts.”

Por Si Alguien Nos Escucha marks Kapo’s debut on any Billboard albums chart. Previously, the singer-songwriter achieved three champs on Latin Rhythm Airplay, including “Ohnana,” the longest-running leader since 2018.

The Spanish-Afrobeats singer also placed a No. 1 on his first try on the Latin Pop Airplay chart through “Imagínate,” with Danny Ocean, in March. With seven straight weeks at No. 1, it continues as the longest-leading No. 1 in 2025 thus far.

Further strengthening his Billboard charts force, Kapo’s new album also bows at Nos. 24 and 11 on the Top Latin Albums and Latin Rhythm Albums charts, respectively.

The 15-track set also sets a new milestone for indie label La Industria, which returns to the top of any Billboard albums chart in over seven years, since Nicky Jam’s Fénix launched at No. 1 in February 2017.

In addition to “Ohnana,” Por Si Alguien Nos Escucha was preceded by one other song on the Billboard charts: “Uwaie,” which peaked No. 16 high on the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs chart, (in 2024) reached No. 2 high on the Latin Rhythm Airplay list (chart dated May 10).

“I feel all of this has been a blessing,” Kapo adds. “I feel that when you are enjoying the process, when you are enjoying what you dream of, and you imagine it in a grateful and joyful way, things happen. Happy and grateful to life, for allowing me to live that way.”
