After five long years (seven if you’re counting Unique’s departure), IV of Spades is finally back together.
The four-piece band marked their long-awaited (and unexpected) reunion with the surprise release of “Aura,” highlighting a new sound and a fresh coat of paint, contrasting from the funk-rock image they initially built early in their careers.
With nothing but an “AURA. OUT NOW” post on social media, fans were blindsided as they were introduced to a new, yet all-too familiar IV of Spades.

The five-minute, slow-paced track is unlike anything we’ve heard from the band, and yet, it is representative of the individual paths they took as independent artists.
Tingnan natin nang husto (Pagmasdan mo nang maigi), ang makulay kong mundo (mga tao sa paligid). Kahit minsa’y magulo (Kahit medyo alanganin), yayakapin nang buo (ikaw pa rin ang hahanapin).
As IV of Spades, they were under the same banner, had their signature sound, and were known for it. And while the untimely split would’ve been regarded as career suicide, it is by separating paths did Unique, Blaster, Zild, and Badjao grow into their own as artists.
Now, they aren’t just part of a band. They’re artists choosing and willingly coming together.
