Buc-ee’s and Keen on Wednesday announced the “Applause for the Cause” fundraiser concert, Aug. 28, at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels.
KERRVILLE, Texas — Texas music legend Robert Earl Keen promised a “star-studded” lineup for a newly-announced fundraiser concert for the devastating Hill Country floods. And Keen, a Kerrville resident, delivered.
He also got some help from another Texas icon: Buc-ee the beaver.
Buc-ee’s and Keen on Wednesday announced the “Applause for the Cause” fundraiser concert, Aug. 28, at Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels. Keen will headline the event and will be joined by a slew of country and Americana artists, including Tyler Childers, Miranda Lambert, Jon Randall, Jack Ingram and Cross Canadian Ragweed.
The lineup also includes Aaron Watson, Cody Jinks, Hayes Carll, Jamey Johnson, Jason Boland, Josh Abbott, Kelsey Waldron, Randy Rogers and Ray Wylie Hubbard.
Tickets will go on sale Friday, July 18, at noon. Reserved seats will cost $200 and general admission tickets will go for $99. All of the proceeds will go toward the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, which has been raising funds in the wake of the deadly Texas floods on July 4.
Tickets to the event and the full lineup and schedule information can be found on the Whitewater Amphitheater website. The event is expected to start in the mid-afternoon and last “far into the night,” Keen said.
“We must help everyone as much as we can, for as long as we can,” Keen said.
“We are pleased to have the opportunity to support the relief efforts of so many for our beloved Hill Country,” Buc-ee’s founder Beaver Aplin said. “The tragedies are beyond belief.”
The Texas floods hit particularly close to home for Keen, who lives in Kerrville and sent both of his daughters to Camp Mystic when they were growing up. Keen has been vocal over the last two weeks about raising money to support the victims of the flooding. He also promoted and donated two premium tables for an upcoming show to fellow artist Josh Weathers’ flood relief auction last week, an effort that raised more than $400,000 in total.
