Google’s AI agent Big Sleep has ironically been vigilant while human engineers take a nap from scouting for cybersecurity vulnerabilities. Formerly Project Naptime, the Large Language Model (LLM) assisted AI Agent Big Sleep was first announced a year back. The tool was developed in collaboration with Google DeepMind and Google Project Zero. Google’s blog states that in November 2024, Big Sleep was able to track down its “first real-world security vulnerability.” Big Sleep has never blinked ever since.
Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai, in his recent tweet, revealed that the AI agent recently discovered a major cybersecurity threat. Per Google, the Big Sleep AI found “an SQLite vulnerability (CVE-2025-6965)—a critical security flaw.” Pichai, in his tweet, expressed
We believe this is a first for an AI agent—definitely not the last—giving cybersecurity defenders new tools to stop threats before they’re widespread.”
New from our security teams: Our AI agent Big Sleep helped us detect and foil an imminent exploit. We believe this is a first for an AI agent – definitely not the last – giving cybersecurity defenders new tools to stop threats before they’re widespread.

Meanwhile, here’s how the internet reacted to Pichai’s tweet on Big Sleep. One user asked, “Why the name Big Sleep?” Another user remarked, “This is a huge win and positive signal, but what are you all seeing on the other side?” The user further asked, “How many bad actors are using AI for scaled-up attacks? Perpetual swarm of agents hitting and probing for vulnerabilities?”
A third user quipped, “Google is trying to be a general monopoly in every field?” Yet another user commented, “Hmmm, so does it mean the AI agent can be turned 180 degrees for offensive purposes also? To sniff out vulnerabilities that a hacker can exploit?”
