Man shoots neighbor who was burying pet in backyard with sibling, HPD says

Police said the victim and a younger sibling were burying a pet in their backyard when a neighbor walked out of his home and shot him once.

HOUSTON — A man is recovering after he was shot in his backyard by a neighbor early Thursday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.

This happened around 12:30 a.m. at a home on Belgard Street north of Bellfort Avenue.

Police said the victim and a younger sibling were burying a pet in their backyard when a neighbor walked out of his home and shot him once.

The Houston Fire Department took the victim to a hospital where he is expected to be OK.

HPD said they interviewed everyone in the neighbor’s home. It’s unclear whether any arrests were made.
