A video of Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil attending the pooja ceremony for Mollywood Times, directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak and starring Naslen, has gone viral on social media. While the actor is rarely seen at public events, what truly caught fans’ attention was the ‘simple’ looking keypad phone he carried. Though the device appears modest, it is far from ordinary.
Fahadh was seen casually taking a phone call on what seemed like a basic mobile device. The video’s caption read, “Have you seen Fahad’s simple phone?” However, eagle-eyed viewers quickly identified it as a Vertu phone—a brand known for crafting high-end, luxury handsets. His specific model appears to be the Vertu Ascent Retro Classic Keypad Phone.

According to Vertu’s website, the phone costs around $11,920 or ₹10.2 lakh. The model is currently listed as out of stock, suggesting that Fahadh may have owned it for some time. Vertu phones are known for their exclusivity and can be priced as high as $500,000. Actor Vinay Forrt recently mentioned in an interview that Fahadh avoids smartphones and social media altogether, opting for a keypad phone as a lifestyle choice.
Fahadh’s decision to stay off digital platforms seems intentional. He avoids Instagram and other apps, maintaining a low digital profile despite being a national sensation. Vinay Forrt even joked that he would give up his smartphone once he achieved Fahadh’s level of fame. The choice of using a retro luxury phone highlights the actor’s distinct personality and resistance to trends.
Professionally, 2024 has been a blockbuster year for Fahadh. He starred in Aavesham and Bougainvillaea (Malayalam), Vettaiyan (Tamil), and Pushpa 2: The Rule (Telugu). Upcoming projects include Maareesan in Tamil and a slate of Malayalam films such as Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, Karate Chandran, and Patriot with icons Mohanlal and Mammootty. He is also reportedly gearing up for his Bollywood debut in Imtiaz Ali’s The Idiot of Istanbul.
