Helmed by director Joachim Rønning and starring Jared Leto, the trailer of the sci-fi thriller Tron: Ares landed on social media platforms.
The movie depicts a spine-chilling moment in the history of mankind when AI beings from the Ares program are sent to scout in the real world. Joachim, known for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017), brings alive the digital world of AI in this Disney production as the world meanders through unprecedented upheaval led by non-sentient AIs.
Jared Leto, who is also one of the producers of the flick, is an AI mercenary depicted to have “biblical superstrength” who can be endlessly cloned in the event of its demise on the warfront.
The new trailer from the production shows the havoc wrecked by Ares, and an AI gone rogue grappling with “feelings.” Do AIs show emotions? They do. Or pretend. Or mimic. Do they have feelings? As of yet no. Will they in future? That would be scary. No?
Reacting to the trailer, xAI’s billionaire boss remarked the trailer “looks promising.” Trone: Ares is set to release on October 10, 2025.
