Celebrate National Ice Cream Day with free scoops and other deals

National Ice Cream Day arrives Sunday, July 20, offering sweet-toothed Americans a chance to celebrate the frozen treat.

The holiday, established by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, falls on the third Sunday of July each year, which is also designated National Ice Cream Month. 

Ice cream shops, restaurants and retailers across the country are marking the occasion with free scoops, discounted treats and special flavors. Here are the best deals to help you celebrate this beloved American tradition.

16 Handles: Download the 16 Handles app and visit a participating location Sunday, July 20 to claim a free treat, up to $5. 

Baskin Robbins: Through July 26, rewards members can get $5 off orders of $20 or more placed through a third-party delivery app.

Burger King: Rewards members can get a free soft serve with any purchase $1 or more on National Ice Cream Day.

Cold Stone Creamery: Cold Stone is offering $5 off a purchase of $15 or more on Friday, July 18 by texting LOVEIT25 to 568348. The coupon is valid for 15 days. On Sunday, July 20, customers can enter a sweepstakes to win free Cold Stone for a year. 

Dairy Queen: From July 14-20, DQ Rewards members can get a free Dilly Bar with a purchase of $1 or more using the DQ App. 

DoorDash: DashPass members can get $5 off 2 Ben & Jerry’s pints on grocery and convenience store delivery orders from July 17-23. 

Dippin’ Dots: Dippin’ Dots will give away free mini cups on Sunday during two-hour windows at 120 locations nationwide. Check your local store to find out when the freebies will be given out.

Friendly’s: Members of Friendly’s Fan Club Rewards program will receive a free cone or dish of ice cream July 20, and non-members can get a scoop for 90 cents. 

Graeter’s: In a joint National Ice Cream Day-155th Birthday celebration, Sweet Rewards members can get $1.55 single scoop sugar cones from July 18-20. 

Jeni’s: On Sunday, July 20, customers can add Sundae Fudge Sauce to any order for free.

Kilwins: From July 20-31, Instagram users who follow @Kilwins can enter for a chance to win a Kilwins e-gift card valued at approximately $600.

Marble Slab Creamery: On July 20, loyalty members will receive a free small ice cream reward. It’s valid for seven days.

Petco: Yes, there’s even deals for your furry family members: Petco will give out free pup cups of ice cream in-store July 20.
