King of the Hill’s Iconic Alamo Beer Coming to Stores in July

From the very first imagery in the opening credits of King of the Hill, the fictional Alamo brand beer has been a staple of the beloved animated television show. Now, San Antonio–based Alamo Brewing will bring the beer to life, and it’s on schedule to arrive at H-E-B and other participating retailers on July 28. The crisp American lager will be an entirely new recipe from Alamo and will be packaged in the recognizable cream, red, and blue can design from the show. In a deviation from the fictional beverage’s lore, it will not be manufactured from the “lukewarm waters of the mighty Brazos River,” but we’re confident that Alamo’s ingredient sourcing is just as high quality.

Die-hard fans will have an opportunity to sample the new brew at a release party on July 26 at the Alamo Brewing facility in San Antonio. We were lucky enough to taste the beverage at King of the Hill’s event at ATX TV Festival earlier this year, and we can confirm that it’s appropriately sippable for hot Texas days.

The arrival of the themed drink coincides with the return of King of the New Hill, which will release new episodes of the show on Aug. 4 for the first time since leaving the air in 2009. But the good news for beer lovers is that the drink isn’t simply a promotion for the relaunch—Alamo plans to make the new variety available to consumers permanently and year-round. Meaning that Texans can make Alamo beer just as integral to their lives as propane and propane accessories.
