Man Killed His Wife and “Felt Bad,” So He Also Killed His Ex-Wife Because He Says She “Deserved It”

Nationwide — Timothy Taylor, a 38-year-old African American man from New York City, admitted to killing both his wife and ex-wife just two weeks apart. He told investigators he “felt bad” after the first murder, so he killed his ex-wife, claiming she “deserved it.”

According to Local 12, Taylor first killed his current wife on May 13, 2023, in Brooklyn. As police began to search for him, he fled to North Carolina.

Later that month, he traveled to Schenectady, New York, where his ex-wife lived. On May 28, Taylor checked into a local hotel, broke into her home early in the morning, and stabbed her more than 22 times. Her three children, two fathered by him, were inside the house at the time.

After the murder, he escaped through a window, threw away his bloodstained clothes, and took a taxi back to the hotel. From there, he made his way to a bus station. Days later, police found and arrested him at a bar in Philadelphia.

While being questioned by New York police, Taylor confessed to both killings. He said he was overcome with guilt after killing his wife and decided to murder his ex-wife next. He admitted he held deep resentment toward her.

“[Taylor] told the detectives that after he had killed his then current wife he felt bad, and he knew he had to come to Schenectady to kill his former wife because he harbored so much animosity toward her and in his words, she, unlike his first victim, deserved it,” the DA’s office said in the release.

Despite the violent attack, the ex-wife protected her children before she died. Prosecutors praised her courage and credited the children, especially the eldest, for helping build the case.

On July 1, 2025, Taylor pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Schenectady. He still faces a separate indictment in Brooklyn for the earlier murder of his current wife.
