Nationwide — Celeste Wilson, a weekend anchor for WAPT in Mississippi, died suddenly from a heart attack. She had recently joined the station, where colleagues admired her professionalism and warmth.
According to WAPT, Wilson earned her Master’s degree in journalism from Arizona State University before beginning her broadcasting career. She later started working at a CBS affiliate in Monroe, Louisiana, where she gained early experience in news reporting.
Earlier this year, she joined WAPT as a weekend anchor. Though her time at the station was brief, coworkers described her as dedicated to journalism and kind to everyone she met.
Her sudden passing left the WAPT team heartbroken. Staff members remembered her as a promising journalist who quickly made a lasting impression.
