5 killed in crash involving livestock trailer in Burnet County

DPS officials say a pickup pulling a livestock trailer crossed into oncoming traffic.

BURNET COUNTY, Texas — Five people are dead following a serious vehicle crash on Friday evening in Burnet County.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) officials say a pickup pulling a livestock trailer crossed into oncoming traffic on U.S. 281, near Park Road 4, around 6 p.m. on July 25.

The truck hit a car head-on, then slammed into an SUV behind it, DPS said. The SUV flipped and caught fire, killing all five people inside.

They have been identified as Thalia Salinas, Ruby Cruz, Brianna Valadez, Desiree Cervantez and Jacqueline Velazco.

The drivers of the other vehicles survived with minor injuries.

DPS is still investigating what caused the crash.
