Nearly 70 Dallas firefighters extinguished a blaze in a vacant building Saturday morning with no injuries reported.
DALLAS — Nearly 70 Dallas firefighters battled a fire in a vacant building Saturday morning, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR).
DFR said units were dispatched at approximately 6:01 a.m. to reports of a fire at a two-story vacant building at the intersection of N. Marsalis Avenue and Comal Street. A second alarm was requested at 6:11 a.m., followed by a third alarm at 6:42 a.m., which yielded the response of anywhere between 65 to 70 firefighters, DFR said.
Crews worked for nearly two hours before the blaze was extinguished at 7:42 a.m., according to DFR.
The vacant building sustained significant damage, DFR said.
A neighboring residential building, at 718 N. Marsalis Avenue, received exposure damage from the original fire. There were no reported injuries, but at least five residents from this location who required assistance from the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, DFR said.
