Verde comes in all shades—including mint. The capital city’s soccer squad has announced their new secondary kit for the 2026 season. Dubbed “The Rooted Kit,” the uniform is intended to celebrate Austin’s natural beauty with a serene light green that pays homage to the clear waters of Barton Springs and the flora and fauna found around our outdoor spaces.
Near the bottom hem of the jersey, the silhouette of oak tree is set atop an outline of the Congress Bridge on Town Lake, and text on the back of the neckline reads “ROOTED IN ATX.” Primary jersey sponsor YETI’s logo still adorns the front, and secondary sponsor Siete Foods’ logo sits on the right sleeve.
To announce the kit’s, Austin FC released a video that features Amanda Johnston, the 61st Texas Poet Laureate, who recites a gorgeous poem praising the wonders of Austin as music from the Austin Symphony Orchestra plays in the background. “Run through winding, verde hills to the highest point,” Johnston intones. “We float on the wind here in Austin.”
The soccer club will be looking to find such heights with the ease of a springtime breeze when the season kicks off later this month. Last year, Austin FC put in their best season since 2022, when they made the Western Conference finals. Though they made the playoffs last year, they fell in the first round to LAFC, the same team that ended their hopes at a title three years prior. In the off season, the club made some major moves, most notably bringing in 25-year-old Uruguayan winger Facundo Torres for a $9.5 million transfer fee. Fans are hoping he doesn’t just look great in that new kit but also helps the team score more goals in the coming year.
