Good things come to those who wait! At long last, Roya opens its anticipated brick-and-mortar location in North Austin on Feb. 11. The upscale Persian concept is helmed by Amir Hajimaleki, who is also the chef-owner of restaurants including District Kitchen + Cocktails, Oasthouse Kitchen + Bar, and Keepers Coastal Kitchen.
After serving Persian-inspired dishes at exclusive pop-ups since 2018, Hajimaleki opens Roya with a seasonal menu that honors his family heritage while using locally sourced ingredients. Standouts include the wild mushroom borani, made with garlic labneh, fire roasted mushrooms, black garlic chili oil, pine nuts, and taftoon, and a melt-in-your-mouth wagyu chenjuh kabob, featuring Australian wagyu, Roya fenugreek seasoning, and tarragon chimichurri.

The distinctive cocktail menu boasts a memorable drink called The Ajeel, crafted with pistachio- and walnut-infused vodka, golden currant syrup, lemon, and pumpkin seed orgeat, and the Albaloo Margarita, sweetened with Michigan sour cherries. Roya also features a wine list highlighting wines from the Middle East.

In addition to its a la carte menu, the North Austin restaurant will offer a Sofreh Experience, a curated Persian dining experience where the chefs will pick and course out your dishes for you as if they were hosting you at their homes. The dimly lit interior features a deep-blue hue and sleek design elements, including Persian tiles, exquisite rugs, and custom works by Azerbaijani artist Alexei Antonov and pieces by local Austin artist Ed Booth.

Roya debuts on Feb. 11 at 7858 Shoal Creek Boulevard.
