Customers of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) will pay more this month as the utility announced a rate hike of 49centavos per kilowatt hour (kWh).
Meralco said the overall rate of a typical household for July is P12.6435 per kWh, up from P12.1552 per kWh a month ago. The increase was attributed to higher generation charges.
