Japan Shatters Internet Speed Record, 16 Million Faster Than India; Internet Jibes ‘Par Humare Paas Jio Hai’

Japan, a nation of a mere 12.45 crores that slid down to the fifth-largest economy after India gained the rank, has shattered the record for the highest internet speed that is 16 million faster than India!

At the blitz speed of 1.02 petabits per second, it is 3.5 million times faster than the average American internet. Using a special fiber optic cable with 19 cores, the world’s fastest network, developed by the Photonic Network Library devised at the NICT in Japan, sends data over a distance of 1,808 kilometers per second. The optical fiber for the network is designed by Sumitomo Electric.

Per reports, the researchers at the NICT used 19 looping circuits, each 86.1 km long, as signals passed through them 21 times, thereby covering 1,808 kilometers whilst carrying 180 data streams. To put this into perspective, this speed is equivalent to downloading the entire Netflix library in 4K in one second or the English Wikipedia 10,000 times in a second.

Reactions poured in on social media. One user jibed, “पागल हैं जापान वाले. ये भी कोई काम है भला ??? काम करना है तो औरंगजेब की कब्र खोदो (The Japanese are stupid. Is this even worthwhile? Why not dig Aurangzeb’s grave instead?)” Another quipped, “But we are the fifth largest economy.” A third user took a cheeky dig, “Par humare paas toh Jio hai.”

Yet another user remarked, “Lekin India wale itni high speed he full hd main reels hi dekhege.” Another commented, “Par karna he kyu hai. Itna speed ka kya hoga?”
