In the stillness of the morning,
The air conditioner is off, yet the fan hums gently, stirring the cool air that lingers from the night. I lie quietly, as I always do at this hour, deep in thought—reflecting on life, joy, and the blessings we so often overlook. Not because they aren’t meaningful, but because we’ve been conditioned to crave more. More success. More validation. More of everything. And in that endless pursuit, we sometimes fail to treasure what’s already in our hands.
This reflection takes me back to a powerful passage of Scripture—when God asks Moses a simple question:
“What do you have in your hand?”
A staff.
Simple. Ordinary.
Easily dismissed by anyone looking for greatness in flashy places.
Yet that staff became the tool God used to shake nations, to humble a king, and to position Moses as a man of influence.
So I ask you:
What do you have in your hand?
What gift, what story, what skill or tool has God placed in your life that you’ve overlooked?
What are you holding that you’ve convinced yourself isn’t valuable enough?
I want to challenge you, (lovingly) to sit with this question. Really sit with it.
Too often, we’re busy chasing the next best thing. As a friend once said, it’s like a woman going in for plastic surgery—there’s always something else to fix. We’re constantly adjusting, tweaking, striving… never quite satisfied. Until, eventually, things become distorted, unrecognizable—even to ourselves.
Don’t let that be your story.
Let simplicity speak.
Let the overlooked become the starting point.
See what God has already placed in your life—and ask Him to breathe purpose into it.
I’m living proof of what it looks like to live a life yielded to God. He’s placed me in a season where I have no choice but to depend on Him fully. And yes, there are moments when I forget and drift into striving again. But I always find my way back. Back to the truth of who He’s called me to be. Back to the quiet power of trusting His process.
And here’s the thing:
I’m not an anomaly.
This can be your story too.
You already have everything you need—within you and around you.
Recognize it. Value it. Stop discounting it.
Then ask God to use that simple thing—just as He did with Moses’ staff—to position you, influence through you, and do mighty things in and through your life.
What a beautiful truth it is:
God is with you—even in the struggle.
So trust Him.
Yield to Him.
