Harry Potter fans are getting a first look at the young wizard in the new HBO remake series.
WASHINGTON — HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” television series has officially begun production.
On Monday, the studio shared a first look at Dominic McLaughlin in his full Harry Potter attire.
In the set photo shared, Mclaughlin is dressed in his Hogwarts uniform and is donning the character’s iconic round glasses. The design is reminiscent of the uniforms used by Daniel Radcliffe and the rest of the original cast.
More cast members were also announced on Monday, including roles for Neville Longbottom, Dudley Dursley and Madam Roland Hooch. The cast members join John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Nick Frost, and Paapa Essiedu, who are set to play Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, Rubeus Hagrid and Severus Snape. Luke Thallon and Paul Whitehouse also round out the cast in recurring roles as Quirinus Quirrell and Argus Filch.
The set photo comes weeks after HBO revealed McLaughlin’s casting as the young wizard.
Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout will play Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively. The newcomers were cast as part of an open call led by HBO last year.
Back in December, showrunners revealed that they were reviewing over 32,000 audition tapes received in response to the original casting call.

Last month, the studio also revealed the cast for several key roles like Draco Malfoy and Lucius Malfoy.
When is the new ‘Harry Potter’ series coming out?
The series, based on J.K. Rowling’s iconic novels, is expected to premiere in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max, the studio announced Monday.
The TV series will be a new adaptation of the original novels, and J.K. Rowling will serve as an executive producer on the show.
HBO describes the series as a “faithful” adaptation of the books, with each season bringing Harry Potter to new and existing audiences.
