16-year-old dies after falling out of UTV in North Texas

The 4×4 accident is the second in as many days in North Texas.

BONHAM, Texas — A North Texas teen has died after falling from a utility task vehicle (UTV) on Sunday.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), 16-year-old Christopher Dryden was riding without a seatbelt as a passenger in a 2010 Polaris Ranger. The UTV was heading westbound on County Road 4120, a gravel road in Fannin County, when Dryden fell out of the vehicle.

DPS said troopers responded to the accident around 8:45 p.m. near Country Road 4142, and Dryden was airlifted to Medical City McKinney, where he later died.

The investigation is ongoing, DPS said.

The news comes as a six-year-old boy was killed Monday in a UTV rollover just one hour west in Gainesville. Three other children were injured in that accident.
