The director has since been fired by the school district, officials say.
GRANDVIEW, Texas — The former band director at Grandview High School has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault of a child, officials say.
Russell Lee Brown, who has since been fired by Grandview ISD, was charged with three counts of sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child, sexual contact.
Grandview ISD Superintendent Kirby Basham said the district was made aware last fall of an allegation involving Brown and a minor, which was promptly reported to law enforcement.
“Please be assured that Grandview ISD addressed this situation with the utmost seriousness and care,” Basham said. “The safety and wellbeing of all students is the District’s top priority.”
No other employees of Grandview ISD have been placed on administrative leave or left the district due to this, Basham added. Two assistant band directors took jobs with other districts this summer, which had nothing to do with the situation, he said.
