RECALL: Tuna salad sold at Texas grocery stores may have Listeria, officials warn

A tuna salad brand sold at Texas grocery stores is recalled for possible Listeria.

TEXAS, USA — Tuna salad sold at grocery stores in Texas is being recalled for the possibility of being contaminated with Listeria.

The recall affects Albertsons, Randalls and Tom Thumb stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas for tuna salad supplied by Reser’s Fine Foods. Reser’s Fine Food initiated the recall due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes in breadcrumbs used as an ingredient in their tuna salad, the company said in a release.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems, the release stated. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

There have been no reports of injuries or infections due to the recalled products, the release said.

Here is a breakdown of the products being recalled:
