GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — A man is dead after being shot by the woman he was assaulting, police say.
According to the Grand Prairie Police Department, the man arrived at the home of a woman with whom he had previously been in a relationship early Sunday morning. Police say the man forced his way into the home and began to assault the woman.
During the assault, GPD says the woman was able to grab a handgun and shoot the man. When officers responded to the home in the 1800 block of Avenue E, just west of Mountain Creek Lake, they found the man shot. He was later pronounced dead by the Grand Prairie Fire Department, police say.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Luis Manuel Molina, 45.
The department said the woman was taken to a local hospital, where she is expected to recover from her injuries.
Grand Prairie PD said the case is being investigated as a self-defense shooting and will be reviewed by the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office.
