1 dead, 2 injured after speeding car loses control, hits bus stop and crashes into building in Fort Worth, police say

A high-speed crash in Fort Worth killed one person and injured two after a car slammed into a building.

FORT WORTH, Texas — One person is dead and two others were injured after a high-speed crash Saturday afternoon sent a vehicle slamming into a building in Fort Worth, according to police.

The Fort Worth Police Department said officers with the East Division responded to a call just after 3 p.m. Saturday in the 5500 block of East Lancaster Avenue. When they arrived, police said they found a vehicle inside a building and a victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a news release from Fort Worth PD, investigators believe two vehicles were traveling at “a high rate of speed” westbound on East Lancaster when one of the drivers lost control, striking a bus stop before crashing into a nearby building.

Police said three people were hit near the bus stop. Two sustained minor injuries, and one person died at the scene.

Both drivers are currently in custody, and charges are expected to be filed, according to the release.

The department’s Traffic Investigations Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
