iOS 26 Beta 4: Apple Revives Liquid Glass, Introduces Smart AI Summaries, Check Eligible Devices

At WWDC, Apple officially unveiled iOS 26, marking the most significant iPhone interface redesign since iOS 7 with its new Liquid Glass aesthetic and overhauled native apps for a more unified user experience. The update drops support for older devices like the iPhone XR and XS but remains compatible with iPhone 11 and newer, including the iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd Gen).

However, Apple Intelligence features will only be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 series. The public beta is expected to launch around July 23, and users can join via Apple’s beta website, keeping in mind that early versions may include bugs. Users can access the public beta by enrolling via Apple’s beta website and enabling beta updates in settings—though minor bugs may be present.

The most striking change in iOS 26 is its revamped visual design called Liquid Glass. It brings smoother animations, redesigned app icons, and more customisation options for the Home and Lock screens. Core apps like Safari, Camera, and Photos also get layout improvements, making them more user-friendly. This marks the most significant iOS redesign since iOS 7—modern and refreshing, yet still intuitive.

Apple Intelligence plays a key role in the update, introducing advanced AI-powered features. Users can now access live translation, screen-aware suggestions, and integrated ChatGPT support for deeper context. The update also adds creative tools like Genmoji (for making custom emojis) and Image Playground (to generate images), along with smarter Shortcuts that adapt to personal usage patterns.

Several core apps have been enhanced. The Phone app merges recents, favourites, and voicemails into one screen, and introduces features like Call Screening and Hold Assist. Messages now supports custom backgrounds, polls, and typing indicators in group chats. Unknown senders are filtered into a separate folder. iOS 26 also introduces a new Apple Games app for easier game management and improves CarPlay with features like widgets, pinned chats, and compact call views.
