2 hurt in crash, including off-duty officer working traffic control

An off-duty police officer was hurt Friday afternoon while working traffic control for a construction project.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to a major crash along westbound Interstate 20 at Dowdy Ferry Road at about 2:30 p.m.

Deputies arrived and found a police officer with the Hawk Cove Police had been hurt in the crash. The officer and another person were both hospitalized in stable condition.

Further details about the crash and the injuries have not been confirmed.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 3:45 p.m., two lanes of I-20 were blocked while two were open.

Hawk Cove is a small town in Hunt County located east of Quinlan near Lake Tawakoni.
