Israel Says It Is Considering Alternatives To Ceasefire Talks With Hamas, Deepening Uncertainty

Posted on July 25, 2025

CAIRO (AP) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his government is considering “alternative options” to ceasefire talks with Hamas. This follows Israel and the U.S. recalling their negotiating teams, adding uncertainty to the negotiations. On Thursday, the teams left Qatar after a U.S. envoy said Hamas showed a “lack of desire” to reach a truce. Meanwhile, Gaza faces worsening hunger as Israel blocks food supplies. French President Emmanuel Macron announced France would recognize Palestine as a state, urging an end to the war. Israeli strikes continued across Gaza, with around 80 people killed since Thursday night.
