Let’s be honest—most people don’t even know what “treason” really truly means. But this week, Donald Trump said President Barack Obama committed it. Again.
He stood in front of cameras and said Obama tried to take him down by making up the 2016 Russia investigation. That’s the same investigation where U.S. intelligence agencies—and multiple bipartisan committees—found that Russia did interfere in the election.
Trump didn’t offer new proof. Just louder blame.
Here’s What Actually Happened
When Trump first ran for president, Russia hacked emails and ran fake ads to help him win. That part is documented.
That’s what we call Russiagate—the real investigation into what Russia did.
Trump didn’t like that, so he flipped the story. He claimed that Obama had used fake evidence to start the investigation. He called it Obamagate—a conspiracy with no evidence, no charges, and no facts behind it.
Now he’s saying it again. In 2025. Loud enough that headlines will run with it. Confusing enough that people might believe it.
Why Now?
Because Trump is in trouble again.
He’s back in the White House. But behind the scenes, he’s under pressure—from the courts, from federal judges, and from a growing pile of news about Jeffrey Epstein.
Let’s not play dumb here.
Trump’s name keeps showing up in stories about Epstein’s network. The timing isn’t a coincidence. He knows how to flood the headlines when he needs cover. Saying “Obama committed treason” is the kind of thing that does just that.
It’s a distraction. A loud, reckless one.
Why This Matters
When a president calls another president a traitor, without proof, that’s not politics. That’s dangerous.
That’s how people lose trust in government. That’s how the truth gets pushed out of reach. And for a man who has a long track record of lying to the public—this kind of accusation is a pattern, not a surprise.
Trump has done this before:
- He said Obama wasn’t born in America (a racist lie).
- He claimed Obama wiretapped him (not true).
- He blamed Obama for things that happened years after he left office.
At some point, we have to ask why one man is still trying to erase another—especially when that other man was the country’s first Black president.
The Truth Is Simple
Obama didn’t commit treason.
He didn’t start a fake investigation. He didn’t break the law. He didn’t run a coup.
He governed under nonstop attacks—and still managed to give millions of people healthcare, end a recession, and rebuild global trust.
That’s his record.
And that’s why these lies keep coming.
