Soulful crooner KEM is back with his signature sound on his new single, “Give My Love.” The ethereal groove gives Sade vibes with a touch of Afrobeats as the “Love Calls” singer reminds us to “Breathe a little, dream a little, trust a little.” Written by KEM with production from Rex Rideout, it is the perfect playlist addition. After over 20 years with Motown, the balladeer has stepped into a new era of his legacy by releasing the song as an independent artist on his label, Kemistry Records. Devotion is on deck as he sings:
“Like a soldier, you ain’t gotta know where the enemy’s been/ I can tell you, the kingdom of love never ends/I wanna give my love to you/ When the world around is on fire/I wanna give my love to you when the spirit’s taking us higher.”
The international superstar recently celebrated his birthday in his hometown of Detroit, as July 23 was declared “KEM Day.” Quintessential KEM is what you’ll get when you hear, “Give My Love,” which already has an official line dance. A true icon of R&B, his music has amassed over 1 billion global streams. He describes his decision to gain control of his music as a “return to love.”
“My move back to Kemistry Records is a return to everything I love and cherish about the music-making process,” he says in the official press release. “I’m returning to my musical roots and to my independence as an artist, a songwriter, and an entrepreneur. Most importantly, I’m returning to the ability to musically reach out and touch my fans in a more meaningful way. “
“Give My Love” is available on all streaming platforms.
