Chile, talk about reverse shade! Astronomer took an L earlier this month when two of its executives, the CEO and the CPO, got caught having a romantic affair. Their reactions when a jumbotron blasted them at a Coldplay concert gave them away. Plus, it didn’t help that lead singer, Chris Martin, called out the scenario in front of thousands. This week, Astronomer dropped an advertisement using Martin’s ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, as a spokesperson. In the now-viral ad, the actress swerved gossip questions and shared facts about the tech company.

Gwyneth Paltrow Tapped For Shady Astronomer Ad
Now, Astronomer is trying to move on from the drama with someone who knows Coldplay pretty well. Gwyneth Paltrow was married to frontman Chris Martin for 13 years. In a short video released Friday, the iconic actress said she had been hired as Astronomer’s “very temporary” spokesperson. The company’s X post has nearly 36 million views, and users retweeted it more than 24,000 times.
“Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days and they wanted me to answer the most common ones,” Paltrow said, smiling and deftly avoiding mention of the KissCam fuss.
She also said, “We’ve been thrilled that so many people have a newfound interest in data workflow automation.” Adding, “We will now be returning to what we do best — delivering game-changing results for our customers.”
What Happened After The Jumbotron Incident?
For context, Astronomer’s CEO, Andy Byron, resigned after being caught on a KissCam, embracing Kristin Cabot, the Chief People Officer, who was not his wife.
“Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” Chris Martin joked when the couple appeared on screen and quickly tried to hide their faces.
When footage from the KissCam first spread online, it wasn’t immediately clear who the couple was. Soon after, the company identified the pair, and Byron dipped out, followed by Cabot.
By then, the video clip had inspired memes, parody videos, and screenshots of the pair’s shocked faces filling social media feeds. According to Luminate, online streams of Coldplay’s songs jumped 20% in the days after the video went viral.
