A Grok user in Alberta USA went up for a hike and found a unique use case for the AI developed by Elon Musk-led firm xAI. The user @tetsuoai during their hike opened up the camera of the smartphone with Grok 4 running on Voice + Video. The Grok user asked if the chatbot can identify the flora of the landscape. The AI responded, “looks like those trees could be packs of pines or spruce.”
“The flowers may be daisies or something similar, often found in meadows,” it added. Grok 4 asked if the user could give the AI a closer look.
The user further lowered the smartphone to give the AI a second look with a better view at the flowers on the trail. After a moment of thought processing, the chatbot first complimented, saying, “nice shot,” before proceeding to identify the flower type. The Grok 4 AI will not conclusively tell if the object is A or B. The guesstimate could also be misleading.
The user, meanwhile, dubbed Grok 4 as his own “pocket PhD.”

Reacting to the post, Elon Musk remarked that one “can just point your camera at anything and Grok will tell what it is.” He further added, “It could even read the writing on my doctor’s prescription note!”

Grok 4, the latest from the xAI was rolled out shortly after the previous iteration went on an anti-Semitic rampage. After its ‘MechaHitler’ jibe, Grok 3 was purged of the sins, which was blamed on the users. The company then released 3 NSFW AI companions and later a more sanitized kid’s friendly version of the Gork. Grok also is now hired by the Pentagon despite the fallout between the American president Donald Trump and former DOGE chief Elon Musk.
