‘This is for me?’: Viral bridal shower for hospital housekeeper inspires free honeymoon stay

A 62-year-old hospital housekeeper and bride-to-be received some early wedding gifts.

Days before she walked down the aisle for the first time, Sheila Williams entered the break room at AdventHealth Winter Park Hospital in Florida. Wearing scrubs and holding a mop pad, she thought she was there to clean up a spill.

“SURPRISE!” staff members shouted when she walked in.

Williams’ colleagues organized a surprise bridal party, complete with decorations, food and a cake.

“This is for me?” a stunned and teary-eyed Williams asked.

Hannah Heisdorf, a nurse who helped organize the party, posted video of the bridal shower on TikTok.

“we threw her a surprise bridal shower and she instantly walked into the room in tears,” she wrote in the post. “she told us that ‘nobody has ever thrown me a party before’ & she ‘was so excited to tell her friends’. we are trying to raise money to send her on a honeymoon! let’s make this the best surprise of her life!! she is the most deserving person ever. venmo in bio”

The 47-second video — as of Monday, five days after it was posted — had over six million views and nearly 18,000 comments. Some were from companies offering gifts to the bride and groom.

“a honeymoon stay on us sounds like a suite idea! sending you a DM! ,” Hilton wrote.

“Upon seeing this incredible moment of kindness, Hilton was inspired to step in and extend the light and warmth of hospitality Sheila has shown throughout her career,” the company said in a statement. “Hilton will be providing a complimentary honeymoon stay to Sheila and Terry, making their post-wedding dreams a reality with other brands joining in on the fun.”

One of those brands was Delta.

“wherever your love takes you, we’ll help you get there ,” the airline commented.

The couple then received gifts to be enjoyed after the honeymoon.

“Every newlywed deserves a kitchen upgrade! ,” Caraway Home added.

“She’ll need to frame some photos from the wedding and honeymoon for SURE! DMing you now!” Framebridge posted.

“Date Night Pass incoming for Sheila and her fiancée! ,” Applebee’s Grill + Bar wrote.

Williams also received offers of a manicure from Olive & June, hair care products from Fable & Mane, pajamas from Printfresh, new scrubs from Uniform Advantage and many other gifts.

On Friday, she swapped her scrubs for a wedding gown, as she walked down the aisle to marry her fiancée Terry.

The wedding — and the bridal shower — were a dream come true.

“She kept saying to us, ‘Is this a dream?” Heisdorf told NBC News. “And you can’t fake the genuine reaction that she had.”
