WTFGO In Politics: Jessica Williams Roasts Trump, Black Farmers Lose Equity & Tariffs Loom Large

This week in American politics, everything feels like a flashback we didn’t ask for. From The Daily Show’s sharpest comedic minds to dangerous policy rollbacks, here’s WTFGO in politics.

Jessica Williams Returns To Drag Trump Over Epstein Files

Jessica Williams made a triumphant return to The Daily Show, and she did not come to play. The former correspondent turned Hollywood star used her guest hosting moment to go in on the recently unsealed Jeffrey Epstein documents, particularly those implicating Donald Trump.

“It’s one thing to be on the flight logs,” she joked. “It’s another thing to have your own nickname. They called him ‘The Donald.’”

With humor and heat, Williams highlighted the double standard in media coverage of Trump’s Epstein ties compared to the intense scrutiny of everyone else. She reminded viewers that Trump isn’t just in the White House for a second term, but he’s running from accountability yet again.

USDA Quietly Ends DEI Policy Helping Black Farmers

Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) just dropped a bombshell with far-reaching consequences. Capital B reports that the department has ended a 2022 policy that instructed staff to proactively assist underserved farmers (many of whom are Black). The now-defunct guidance had been designed to correct decades of discrimination in how aid and loan services were distributed. Its removal signals a chilling turn in the federal commitment to equity in agriculture, leaving Black farmers—already fighting to maintain land and livelihood—once again pushed to the margins.

Trump’s Tariff Tantrum is Back

In economic news, President Donald Trump’s trade threats are heating back up, and so are the prices. His self-imposed July 29 deadline to secure trade concessions from countries like China, Mexico, and Canada passed without deals, meaning Trump is now set to impose steep tariffs. According to live updates from CNN, they are talking about 60% on Chinese imports and 10% across the board on everyone else. Economists and business leaders are sounding the alarm, warning that these tariffs will increase the cost of everyday goods for American consumers and spark retaliation abroad. It’s “America First” at the checkout line and it’s about to get expensive.

From comedy to crops to commerce, this week showed what’s under the surface of political headlines. It’s a country teetering on the edge of rollback and reckoning. Yikes.
