ARLINGTON, Texas — This weekend, basketball takes on a deeper meaning in Arlington.

The Dallas Wings will host their fourth annual Unified Game, a fan-favorite tradition that brings Special Olympics athletes to center court at College Park Center. The event pairs athletes with WNBA stars for a feel-good afternoon of fun, teamwork, and community.

But don’t let the good vibes fool you; this will be a competitive matchup. Wings guards Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale will serve as head coaches for the two squads: Team Rebel (coached by Bueckers) and Team Lightning (coached by Ogunbowale).

The game features four six-minute quarters, a five-minute halftime. If there’s a tie at the end of the fourth quarter, there will be a three-minute overtime period. 

MVPs will be named from both teams and will take part in a postgame press conference alongside their coaches, just like the pros.

And yes, there will be all the bells and whistles of a typical Wings home game: a live DJ, appearances by mascot Lightning and the Flight Crew, plus Wings players serving as referees, cheer captains, and in-game hosts.

The franchise says this is more than just a game — it’s about inclusion, celebration, and spotlighting the abilities of local athletes.

Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, at College Park Center.
