Elon Musk-Led Tesla’s First Supercharger Site For India Goes Live In Mumbai’s BKC

Tesla India unveiled its first showroom ever in the country in Mumbai’s BKC. Dubbed the Tesla Experience Center, the showroom opened its 50th global market by selling two versions of its widely popular Model Y cars, imported from China. The company has now installed Superchargers at the BKC One site for Tesla users in India.

India is the world’s third-largest automobile market and the demand is only growing. With Tesla’s presence, the climate-conscious car users get another alternative to fossil fuel vehicles. The Tesla EVs can be charged via Superchargers, which were first introduced in September 2012.

The current generation of V4 Superchargers is capable of 325 kW output. It ships with a longer cable than its predecessors. Some of the V4 Superchargers in North America are equipped with “Magic Dock” to charge non-Tesla vehicles as well.

With over 70,000 connectors, Tesla now has nearly 7,500 Supercharger stations globally. China, with about 2200 Supercharger sites, is the largest market in Asia for Tesla, followed by South Korea (166), Japan (125), and Taiwan (107). Other Asian countries with Supercharger sites include Thailand (27), Malaysia (13), Singapore (11), Kazakhstan (2), the Philippines, and India (one each).

Tesla India made the announcement of Superchargers for India on X/Twitter, much to the delight of desi fans of the EV.
