Beaumont United’s New Era Begins

Beaumont United begins a new era as they kick off their high school football season under new head coach Dre Williams, aiming for their first winning season.

BEAUMONT, Texas —  The first official day of high school football season arrived Monday for teams that did not play a spring game last school year, and for the Beaumont United Timberwolves, that meant it was time to get to work.

While rain forced the freshman squad to open their practice indoors, the varsity team took advantage of clearer conditions to hit the field in helmets and jerseys. The workout marked the beginning of a new chapter for the program under first-year head coach Dre Williams.

Williams inherits a team still searching for its first winning season in program history. Last year, Beaumont United fell short of a winning record, but the new coach is eager to begin building toward that milestone.

“I’m looking forward to getting the process started,” Williams said. “I want to get the most out of these kids and see them excel on and off the field.”

The Timberwolves will open their 2025 campaign on Aug. 29 in Houston against the Bellaire Cardinals. Their first home game is set for Sept. 12, when they host the Nimitz Cougars at Doggett Family Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

For now, the focus remains on preparation. With the first day of practice behind them, Williams and his players will continue working toward the goal of finally breaking through with a winning season, a goal that has eluded the Timberwolves since the program began.

As the helmets go on and the countdown to kickoff continues, Beaumont United is ready to take its first steps toward making history.
