Full DART service returns 6 days after train caught fire

Service was restored on all DART rail lines Tuesday, nearly a week after a train caught fire, shutting down the Central Business District.

DALLAS — DART service was fully restored and all rail lines were operating Tuesday, nearly a week after a train caught fire

It was announced Tuesday that service was restored in a social media post. All rail lines are now operating on regular schedules, DART said.

The transit agency was forced to operate on a modified schedule for six days after a DART train caught fire near the Pearl/Arts District Station, WFAA previously reported.

About 30 passengers and 10 people in the area had to be evacuated after the train caught fire, according to previous reporting. A total of 15 people sustained injuries. Of those, DART said nine were treated at the scene and released, and six of them were eventually taken to the hospital for various reasons, ranging from anxiety to minor burns.

DART spokeswoman Jeamy Molina said the agency is investigating the cause of the fire. The NTSB later said the agency was also investigating the incident.

“We take all of these incidents very seriously,” Molina said. “And our passenger safety is one of the most important things for us.”
