Wednesday’s Child: 15-year-old Sarah hopes for a forever family with room to grow and animals to love

FRISCO, Texas — Sarah is this week’s Wednesday’s Child, and she is nothing short of unforgettable. She walks into every room with a smile and a heart full of love.

Described as curious, compassionate, and full of light, 15-year-old Sarah inspires others to be better.

“It’s such a joy to be around her,” said Kelsie Hyden, Sarah’s Court Appointed Special Advocate.
“She’s a light. She approaches the whole world with optimism, excitement, and exuberance.”

Sarah has been in foster care for several years and is looking for a forever family. She yearns for parents who can provide love, patience, structure, and lifelong support.

“I don’t like spiders,” she told us as we walked around KidZania in Frisco.

Sarah made us smile with her “off-the-cuff” comments and compliments. She is the kind of person who gives praise freely and checks in on others, even those who are supposed to be taking care of her.

“She always makes sure I buckle my seatbelt,” Hyden shared. “And she asks if I’ve eaten. That’s just who Sarah is—always looking out for others.”

She’s especially tender when it comes to animals.

During our adventure at KidZania, Sarah got the chance to roleplay as a veterinarian, lovingly caring for plush dogs and cats. The experience was more than just fun; it was healing.

“Animals help me calm down when I’m shaking or scared,” Sarah said.

Her connection to animals runs deep. Sarah still grieves the loss of her childhood dog, lovingly named Peanut Butter.

“I know my Peanut Butter is watching down on me,” Sarah recalled, wiping away tears.

Sarah has special needs and will require a family who can advocate for her, both at school and in life. What she wants most is simple: love, honesty, and protection.

“She’s told me before,” Hyden said, “That she’d love to live with a family who has a lot of space, maybe out in the country, with animals.”

More than anything, Sarah needs people who will be patient, affectionate, and consistent. She thrives on hugs, encouragement, and knowing she is safe.

“She asked me today if I loved her,” Hyden said. “And I told her, ‘Oh my goodness, of course I do!”

Sarah is ready for a fresh chapter. She dreams of being part of a family that will stand by her side forever.

“Love, honesty, and protection,” Sarah said when asked what she hopes for in a family.

Hyden, who has been with Sarah through many chapters of her journey, has only one wish:

“It’s my hope that whatever happens with Sarah, she’s a part of my life forever.”
