Scenery crew, wig makers, costume designers, prop makers, and lighting technicians are among the host of unseen stars behind every production at the Alley Theatre in Houston.

Theater productions involve a lot more than actors stepping out on stage reciting lines. There’s an entire crew behind the scenes we never see who create sets, costumes, wigs, and props for every production.

To meet some of those people at the Alley Theatre and to get an idea of how much work is involved in bringing a show to the stage, Houston Matters producer Michael Hagerty takes us on a behind-the-scenes tour (in the audio above) with Aaron Wilson, the Alley’s director of production.

Along the way, we meet costume director Mike Floyd, wig maker Amy Solomon, scene painter Christie Debacker, and prop director Scott Groh.

And you can see photos below from Houston Public Media intern Jayla Rhodes.
