BvB Dallas football game to raise money for Alzheimer’s research and care

The flag football game takes place on Aug. 23 at Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas

Seven million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s Disease and that number is expected to grow to nearly 13 million by 2050.

A Dallas non-profit is bringing young professionals together to fight Alzheimer’s through sport.

BvB Dallas, which began in 2008, is a charity flag football game where there’s more to the score than touchdowns. Prior to the game, players on both teams raise money that will be donated to organizations providing Alzheimer’s care and research.

Kickoff for this year’s game is at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 23. The game will be played at Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas. Fans can buy tickets with a $25 donation to BvB Dallas.

BvB Dallas hopes to raise $300,000 through this year’s game.

WFAA is a proud sponsor of BvB Dallas. WFAA sports reporter Michelle Montaine and reporter Janel Forte are participating in this year’s match-up. 

Care for people living with Alzheimer’s will cost the nation more than $360 billion in 2025, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. 

BvB’s beneficiaries work directly with doctors and patients to provide advance treatments, improve patient care, and offer resources to families navigating Alzheimer’s challenges. 

Since 2008, BvB Dallas has raised more than $6.5 million for Alzheimer’s research and care in North Texas. Past beneficiaries include Alzheimer’s Association, Juliette Fowler Communities, The Senior Source, and UT Southwestern Medical Center.
