Dallas County Elections Administrator resigns, county confirms

Heider Garcia said he submitted his resignation to the county on Thursday.

DALLAS — Dallas County Elections Administrator Heider Garcia has resigned from his position, leaving for a position with a private firm, the county confirmed Friday.

Garcia told WFAA he submitted his resignation on Thursday. His last day with Dallas County will be at the end of August.

“I’m leaving on good terms,” Garcia said.

Garcia has been in the position with Dallas County for just less than two years. He had 58 full-time employees under him as well as many volunteers. He will remain in the DFW area.

“We are sorry to see him go and grateful for the time he was with the County improving our Elections department and the election process in Dallas County,” the county said in a statement.
