Google Doodle paid tribute to India’s 79th Independence Day with a doodle featuring tile works that showcase some of the glorious achievements of Hindustan throughout the last seven decades. Google collaborated with artists Makarand Narkar and Sonal Vasave of the Boomerang Studio for the Independence Day artwork. The multidisciplinary studio has done animated work for Coldplay, Amazon Prime, Nike, Paris Paralympics 2024 and more.
The Google Doodle features an amalgamation of varied styles and textures from across the length and breadth of India in the form of tilework. Google states
The tiles are a diverse array of styles and textures from different regions in India, ranging from Jaipur’s Blue Pottery, West Bengal’s Terracotta Relief, and Goa’s Azulejo tiles to Tamil Nadu’s Athangudi and Agra’s inlay tiles.
Each tile is a window into India’s journey.
Each tile showcases a different style and a different national achievement, from space missions and world chess titles to cricketing glory and international film recognitions.”
